Jacks Award

FAA representative Gary Knaggs and Jack Brewer with his awards

The Club met on April 8, 2013. 23 members, one guest and FAA representatives Gary Knaggs and Carol Callan were present. Club maintenance officer Jack Brewer was recognized for 50 years of safe flight operations and 50 years of service as an A&P, receiving the Wright Brothers Master Pilot and Charles Taylor Master Mechanic awards. This is a *BIG DEAL*. Either award would be impressive. Earning both is almost unheard of (according to the FAA reps, Jack is one of only two people in Michigan to have earned both awards.) The Club is incredibly proud of Jack’s accomplishments.

CLUBHOUSE CLEANUP

Sat. 5/18 10am-Noon

We need to wash the accumulated winter off of the planes and out of the hangar. Many hands make light work. Expect to enjoy a cold beverage and order some lunch when we’re done.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Robinson R22

April was another great month of flying. Joe Fehler earned his complex endorsement and is checked-out in the Mooney. Chad Taylor did his full Mooney checkout on his way down to Sun N’ Fun with Greg McCabe. Mark Slocum flew his first solo and earned his student certificate. Greg McCabe started helicopter training last week at Midwestern Helicopter in Kenosha, Wisconsin. “I did my 2 hour night cross country last night through all the low level helicopter routes around the Chicago tall buildings. I was so afraid of an engine failure that I actually felt relieved on the 2am airplane flight back across Lake Michigan.” http://www.midwesternhelicopter.com/
